Alumnae Spotlight: Brown Toy Box Launches Retail Store

We love to see a vision bloom—and WEI alumna Terri-Nichelle Bradley is doing just that in a big way. This week, she made history by opening the first-ever Brown Toy Box retail store in the heart of Downtown Atlanta, inside the historic Healy Building.

This isn’t just a milestone for Terri-Nichelle. It’s a cultural moment for the city.

Founded with the bold mission to center and celebrate Black children through STEAM toys, storytelling, and positive representation, Brown Toy Box has grown from an idea into a movement. What started as a subscription box blossomed into a nationally recognized brand carried by major retailers like Target. Now—with her own brick-and-mortar location—Terri-Nichelle brings her vision full circle, planting roots right in the city that helped nurture her growth.

“Representation is not a trend—it’s essential,” she says. And this store? It’s proof.

From colorful shelves filled with affirming toys and books to the intentional, welcoming design, every inch of the space invites children of color to dream, build, and see themselves reflected in the stories they play with. It’s more than a toy store—it’s a space of joy, pride, and power.

At WEI, we believe that when women are given the right tools, resources, and platform, they don’t just launch businesses—they change narratives and shape communities. Terri-Nichelle is the embodiment of that mission. We are incredibly proud to be a part of her journey and to watch her continue blazing trails for the next generation of innovators and creatives.

Brown Toy Box is now open and welcoming visitors at the Healy Building, 57 Forsyth Street NW, right in the heart of Downtown Atlanta. Go for the toys—but leave inspired by the legacy being built.
